A political science lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Isaac Brako has raised concerns over remarks made by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng, regarding leadership eligibility within the party.
Hon. Asante Boateng had stated that the Ashantis historically used slaves for warfare and suggested that such individuals and their descendants should not hold leadership positions or authority within the party.
Speaking to newseyegh.com, Dr. Brako described the comments as divisive and inconsistent with Ghana’s diverse cultural landscape. He emphasized that all citizens, regardless of ancestry, have the right to hold leadership roles in the country.
He added that remarks like these deepen societal divisions and should not be tolerated, stressing that the MP’s position demands greater responsibility in public statements.
