The Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Professionals (COUAHP) has expressed deep disappointment over what it describes as a renewed setback in its efforts to secure financial clearance and recruitment into the health sector. According to the group, despite repeated assurances from government officials—including commitments from the Ministry of Health—they have once again been left out of the 2026 national budget.
Speaking to newseyegh.com, the General Secretary of the Coalition, Ankomah Isaac, said members had been hopeful that this year’s budget would finally address their longstanding concerns. He explained that the Coalition had engaged several authorities over the past months and had been consistently assured that unemployed allied health professionals would be captured in the upcoming budget cycle. However, he noted that after the budget presentation, it became clear that none of their expectations had been met.
Mr. Ankomah lamented that graduates from as far back as 2019 up to the 2024 batch remain unemployed, despite completing their mandatory national service and meeting all requirements for posting. He stressed that many of these graduates are struggling financially as they wait for recruitment, even though the health sector continues to face staffing shortages in various facilities across the country.
He appealed to the government to urgently reconsider their situation and provide the needed financial clearance to enable their absorption into the public health system. The Coalition says it will continue to engage authorities while exploring other avenues to ensure its members are not left behind.
