Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed optimism that delegates in the Tano North constituency will once again deliver overwhelming support for his bid in the party’s 2026 presidential primaries, predicting a 90 percent endorsement.
Speaking on the first day of his campaign tour of the Ahafo Region which also took him to Tano South and Asutifi North constituencies, the former Vice President thanked delegates for their strong backing in the 2023 contest, where he secured 84 percent of the votes in Tano North.
“I am excited today. I know I’m always welcomed in Tano North. I want to express my appreciation for the support in 2023. I garnered 84% of the votes. In the same vein, I urge you to replicate the support in 2026. This time round, I know that the support will be 90%. A win for me is a win for Tano North,” Dr. Bawumia told cheering delegates.
The NPP flagbearer aspirant’s renewed appeal aligns with his broader campaign message, which emphasizes continuity, inclusiveness, and innovation. He has consistently highlighted his commitment to leveraging private sector participation to accelerate national development, particularly in addressing Ghana’s road infrastructure deficit.
According to Dr. Bawumia, private investment will be crucial in major infrastructure projects, while government resources will focus on connecting communities through feeder and inter-town roads.
He also reiterated his pledge to promote grassroots inclusion in governance, assuring delegates that his administration would empower local communities and ensure that their priorities shape national policy.
Positioning himself as a unifier, Dr. Bawumia once again stressed the importance of party cohesion, noting that unity within the NPP would be key to securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
The Ahafo Region visit marks the third leg of Dr. Bawumia’s nationwide campaign tour, as he seeks to consolidate grassroots support and strengthen his bid to lead the NPP into the 2028 polls.
